Isn’t it funny how just when it seems you have everything in place, all your goals lined up, all the moves you need to achieve them worked out, all jazzed up and ready to give yourself the discipline you need to stick to the plan… wham! something completely out of the blue puts the whole thing on hold! When that happens to me it’s always my body telling me it has other plans. I don’t very often get ill. In fact I can’t remember the last time I had so much as a cold. But when I do get ill, I go down like a falling tree. And there’s nothing I can do until my body has fought its battle with the bacteria, which involves abandoning all my plans and starting again from zero. Zero is really a good place to start. In this quiet time while I wait for my body to stop aching and win its battle, I have reflected on the timing of these occasional disabling periods. My mind, with its planning ahead was having a party right before. “I’m going to do that, I want to do this, and I can do that at the same time and then I will….” Bam! “Oh no you won’t” says Body, “Slow down. Your plan will put everything out of balance. You can only get where you want to get, do what you want to do, if you listen to ME. There’s no other way. That is the balance you need. Listen to me. Stay grounded in the present. And we’ll get there together.” No contest really.
